Bio

Jason Allen DeWater is a business leader, educator, and advocate for workforce development and education equity. He is the founder and CEO of iFixOmaha and iFixAmerica, where he has pioneered industry-leading workforce training and certification programs in mobile device repair.

As the creator of the first postsecondary credentialed training program in mobile device repair, Jason developed a curriculum built around CTIA WISE Certification Standards, helping hundreds of individuals gain the certifications and skills needed for sustainable careers. His commitment to workforce education extends beyond postsecondary training, as he has successfully launched youth workforce academies at Millard Public Schools, Bellevue Public Schools, and Avenue Scholars, providing students with structured career pathways in technology and repair industries.

Jason has also worked to expand workforce training at the postsecondary level, partnering with Metropolitan Community College, Iowa Western Community College, and City Startup Labs to build scalable career-readiness programs. In 2024, he played a pivotal role in securing a $400,000 grant for City Startup Labs’ ReConnex program, a workforce initiative providing digital tech repair training and career opportunities for formerly incarcerated individuals while serving low-income households in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Under Jason’s leadership, iFixOmaha has been recognized as an industry leader, earning Best of Omaha every year since 2017 and receiving the Greater Omaha Chamber’s 2024 Business Excellence Award for Innovation. His expertise in workforce development, training, and repair services has also made him a vocal advocate for the Right to Repair movement, and he has been featured in The Economist, The Guardian, WIRED Magazine, and the Omaha World-Herald for his work in consumer rights and sustainability.

Jason was named to the Greater Omaha Chamber’s 40 Under 40 list and served as Nebraska’s representative in Google’s Economic Impact Report. His dedication to education and mentorship has made a lasting impact on workforce training and career development across multiple industries.

Music and Arts Leadership

Before becoming a leader in workforce education and business innovation, Jason was a professional musician and educator. He served as principal horn of the Omaha Symphony from 2007 to 2015 and performed as guest principal horn with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, and Houston Grand Opera.

Jason was an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha from 2011 to 2015, mentoring students in music theory and performance. As founder and artistic director of the Omaha Consort and Chamber Music Institute from 2012 to 2015, he established Omaha’s first chamber music training academy for K-12 students, commissioned new works by local composers, and introduced major classical works by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven to Omaha audiences for the first time. His collaborations with the Omaha Symphony, Joslyn Castle, and Scottish Rite reshaped Omaha’s classical music scene, influencing local arts organizations that continue to adopt his approach to intimate and interactive performances today.

Commitment to Innovation and Impact

Jason DeWater continues to drive innovation in workforce development, education, and business. Through iFixOmaha and iFixAmerica, he remains committed to expanding access to career training, building industry partnerships, and creating scalable solutions that empower individuals and strengthen communities.
